Bufandas

This weekend was so much fun! Friday night I ate a beef stroganoff crepe and it was so tasty. Then I went back to Otavalo for some more shopping on Saturday and spent the night in a cabin in a near by town called Cotacachi . My four friends and I showed up at the cabins a bit late so the beds were all claimed. Luckily we found a attic room that was unclaimed but the roof was really low and there wasn't any electricity.  There was only a single bed so since I can never stay still, I opted to sleep on the floor. The cabins were really nice but one of my friends noticed pictures of Che Guevara on the wall. When my friend asked the guy who's family owns the cabins why they had pictures of Che up he said that he is his great great grandfather. If that's true... it's a bit creepy.

My favorite purchases of the day were bufandas [scarves]. I got so many different style all at a whopping $2/ scarf. I bought plenty for everyone so when I come home everyone can have their pick of scarf!

Today the group of students went for a hike. We kinda got lost on the path and didn't end up where we were supposed to but I still had fun. We found a huge field of flowers and it looked like we were in the Wizard of Oz so naturally I had to take a picture sitting in the meadow. After the pseudo-hike, we ate lunch back in Otavalo and headed back to Quito. I kinda tripped in dirt on the hike so now my camera wont pop out the lens. I WILL figure out how to fix it because there's no way I can go without taking pictures.

This coming weekend is a holiday called Carnival. We get Mon and Tues off from school so I have plans to go to the beach. Carnival isn't really anything but celebrating and having fun... I don't really get it but hey, I won't argue with two days off from school. I am going to the beach with four other Tech girls and the host sister of one of them is setting it all up for us. I am going to get SO tan!!!

The super bowl is today. I am not going to watch it because #1 I don't enjoy football that much #2 the commercials will be in Spanish so I won't understand any of the jokes #3 I don't care who wins [Just kidding Dave, GO RAVENS!].

My upcoming weekends are beyond exciting so I'll make a little list for all of you.
