The red bus

The reason why the title is dedicated to the red bus [the ecovia] is because it is the most insane bus that I have ever been on. Old women [Sara Medina, I spelled it right! No more wemon mishaps], old men, little kids, EVERYONE was pushing and shoving there way on to this bus. It was one of those double buses with the extension on the back and still everyone couldn't fit. I had to ride this bus with a few other Tech students so we could register our visas at La Extranjera- Ecuador's was of keeping track of us. They kept our passports and we get them back on Monday [don't worry, we knew ahead of time that they would keep them]. The blacksburg transit certainly didn't prepare me for the craziness of the red bus. I'll stick to my uncrowded, safe green bus!

Veronica [sister] asked if I wanted to go for a walk in El Parque Metropolitano [Metropolitan Park] behind out house. I was expecting a nice path and an easy walk- NO. We went through bushes and across water and climbed embankments and had to hold on to roots. It was AWESOME! I felt like I was in the jungle. She took some pictures of me that are below. I got very winded (i guess from the altitude) but my body wasn't sore. I did get a bit sunburned so I need to put on more sunscreen tomorrow!

I'm going to the international student welcome party from 8am-8pm (travel time included). We'll be in a rural mountainous area and get to know one another! Tonight I am going to the historic district and La Plaza Foch again. I'm sharing a taxi with other Tech kids into the city and we're going to look around the touristy area. There are a lot of great restaurants around there and dance clubs. We'll see if I get up the courage to salsa in front of people. Hey- I tried tomato juice, rode a big city bus all alone, oh and moved to Ecuador... So dancing should be no problem, right? Shout out to mom and dad for not giving me any rhythm genes :)

(Kinda blurry) flower I found in the park

Above^ is my attempt at a panoramic view :) [The blog wont allow me to keep the pics side by side so just imagine. You can drag the picture to make it fit while you hold it]

Wild flowers, look like roses

This was part of our "walk" in the park

Climbing an embankment

That's all for tonight, I'm rushing to get all pretty for the Ecuadorian men that want to marry me. HAHAHA just kidding mom. I only like men my height or taller [the average Ecua man is 5 foot 4 inches]. I'm a gigante (giant) here.
